오형균 ECD, 브랜드 익스피리언스 & 액티베이션 라이언즈 부문 예선 심사 맡아
아시아 최초 칸 '티타늄 라이언즈' 수상, 국내외 광고제서 국내 최다 수상 기록 보유

오형균 더워터멜론(the.WATERMELON) ECD(Executive Creative Director, 제작전문임원)가 칸 라이언즈 2023 예선 심사위원으로 선정됐다.

27일 칸 라이언즈 조직위원회에 따르면 오형균 ECD는 세계 최대의 크리에이티비티 축제인 칸 라이언즈(The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity)가 주최하는 칸 라이언즈 어워드의 '브랜드 익스피리언스 & 액티베이션 라이언즈(Brand Experience & Activation Lions)' 부문 예선 심사를 맡게 됐다.

올해 칸 라이언즈 예선 심사위원은 58개국 197명의 글로벌 크리에이티브 업계 리더들로 구성됐으며 국내에서는 오 ECD가 유일하게 포함됐다. 예선 심사위원들은 원격으로 출품작을 심사하게 된다.

오형균 ECD는 "상을 받아야 좋은 광고인 것은 아니지만, 좋은 광고가 상을 받는 것은 당연한 일"이라며 "훌륭한 캠페인들이 빛을 받을 수 있도록 세심히 살펴보겠다"는 소감을 전했다.

오형균 ECD는 앞서 제일기획에서 삼성전자 갤럭시 S2부터 S5까지 ATL과 IMC 캠페인을 제작했으며, 국내 대행사 최초로 클라이언트에게 아이디어를 먼저 찾아가 제시하는 선제안팀을 만들었다.

그는 삼성생명 마포대교 생명의 다리 캠페인, 유니클로 히트텍 윈도우 캠페인, 삼성화재 소화기꽃병(Firevase) 캠페인 등을 총괄 제작해 아시아 최초로 칸 라이언즈에서 티타늄 라이언즈를 수상하는 등 총 13개의 라이언즈 트로피를 획득하는 등 글로벌에서도 뛰어난 크리에이티비티 능력을 인정받았다.

그 밖에 클리오 어워드 그랑프리, 런던 인터내셔널 어워즈, 뉴욕 페스티벌, 원쇼 어워드, D&AD, ADC, 애드페스트, 스파이크스 아시아, 레드닷 어워드 등 국내외 광고제에서 148회라는 국내 최다 수상기록을 보유하고 있다. (국제 광고제 115회, 국내 광고제 33회)

사이먼 쿡(Simon Cook) 라이언즈(LIONS) 최고경영자(Chief Executive Officer, CEO)는 "칸 라이언즈의 본선 진출작을 확정짓는 1차 심사는 매우 중요하다"며 "올해 예선 심사위원들은 전문 지식을 갖춘 세계적인 수준의 인재들로 구성됐다. 심사위원들의 노고에 미리 감사의 말을 전한다"고 밝혔다.

칸 라이언즈 2023 심사위원 관련 내용은 칸 라이언즈 공식 홈페이지에서 확인할 수 있다. 올해 칸 라이언즈 본선 심사위원은 전세계 46개국 290명의 전문가가 선정됐으며 국내에서는 제일기획의 말콤 포인튼(Malcolm Poynton) 글로벌 최고 크리에이티브 책임자(Global Chief Creative Officer, CCO)와 이예훈 제작전문임원(Executive Creative Director, ECD), 한화그룹의 박지영 커뮤니케이션위원회 부사장, 융폰마트한강의 빌염 CCO가 포함됐다.

올해로 70회를 맞는 2023년 칸 라이언즈 페스티벌은 오는 6월 19일부터 23일까지 프랑스 남부도시 칸에서 열린다. 국내에서는 대홍기획, 더워터멜론, 무신사, 신용협동조합중앙회, 엘베스트, 이노션, 제일기획, ㈜기아, 하나은행, HS애드, KT, SK텔레콤, SK하이닉스(가나다 순)의 마케팅·광고·커뮤니케이션 전문가들이 참관단을 꾸려 프랑스 칸을 방문할 예정이다.
